What it is
Daylight is a native macOS chat app that runs a local AI model on your own Mac. It is free, private, and works offline. There is no account and no subscription.
When you first open it, Daylight checks your Mac, picks the model that fits its memory, and downloads it once. The model runs on the GPU through a bundled build of llama.cpp, and your conversations are saved as JSON files on your Mac. Smaller Macs get a smaller, faster model; Macs with more memory get a smarter one.
Search is off unless you ask
Web search is off by default, so the model has no way to reach the internet. If you turn it on, Daylight shows the exact search query before it runs, and only pages that came back from your own search can be opened.
